Professional Awards
Lucy McCormick Award
The Lucy McCormick Award is presented to a worthy recipient who has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of developmental education. This award is given at the discretion of the Executive committee and need not be presented on a yearly basis. The recipient will be recognized at the Annual Conference.
The following criteria has been developed to assist with the determination of an appropriate nominee for this award:
- the nominee need not necessarily be an educator nor a member of O.A.D.E.
- the nominee shall have made a significant contribution to the enrichment of the lives of those with developmental disabilities at the local and provincial level.
- the nominee’s name may have been presented for consideration in previous years.
- the award may be presented posthumously.
Fred Soplet Humanitarian Award
This award is given annually to a person who has demonstrated a high degree of commitment and compassion for people who are developmentally delayed. The recipient will be recognized at the Annual Conference. Other criteria for this nomination:
- May be an educator, a parent, a volunteer, a peer tutor or anyone else who has had ongoing involvement with people with developmental disabilities.
- The nominee must have initiated some action which has furthered the well-being of people with developmental disabilities.
- The award may be presented posthumously.
The Passion to Income Award
This financial award is offered to a person with a developmental disability who is taking their passion and turning it into self-generated income. The award is up to three awards of $100.00 each. The recipient(s) will be recognized at the Annual Conference. Other criteria for this nomination:
- Nominee may currently be in school or has completed high school.
- Nominations may be made by anyone who knows the individual and the passion they are exploring.
- Award winners can be invited to be a vendor at the Annual OADE Conference.
